Congratulations
To TLP members
 Julie Lonneman & Mary Provosty!

Both artists received individual artists grants from
the City of Cincinnati for 2008.

Julie Lonneman ($5,880) for a series of linocut relief prints about Knowlton Street in Northside and an exhibition. "I've long been fascinated by the stretch of Knowlton between Hamilton and Crawford Avenues, which I traverse almost every day on my way to my studio," she says. "I often travel by foot or bicycle, giving me ample time to observe the interesting aspects of the street. In this short stretch are homes, factories, businesses, a neighborhood bar, two organic gardens, a bicycle co-op, art studios, a storefront church and a funeral home." She plans to create 10 prints which she hopes will encourage viewers to see the "value in the often overlooked and sometimes edgy beauty of a city neighborhood."

Mary Provosty ($6,000) for creation/exhibition of linoleum prints and fabric quilt with photo-reproduced print images.

CHECK OUT THESE VIDEOS...

Below are four videos on youtube produced by The Minneapolis Institute of Art that show the Intaglio, Lithography, Relief and Screenprinting processes.
Each one is about five minutes long and runs continuously on information kiosks inside the museum. They are a good example for anyone new to printmaking or for someone who has an interest in how a print is made.

Tiger Lily currently offers the opportunity to work in Intaglio and Relief with hope for Screenprinting in the future.

These were sent out to all Mid America Print Council members from Phyllis I. McGibbon...another good reason to join the MAPC!

Crown Point Press
in
San Francisco
has just added Tiger Lily Press to their community resources page for printmakers.  Take some time and check them out.  They have a very nice website with information on artists Kiki Smith, William T. Wiley, and several others.  There are videos interviews, free studio plans to download, an advice column from master printers, printmaking  textbooks, and special hard to find etching supplies.
