Intro to Intaglio Class
(using the saline sulfate etch)
(using the saline sulfate etch)
Thursdays, July 19, 26, August 2 and 9
5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Instructor: Rachel Heberling
There’s nothing quite like the delicate line of intaglio
pressed into fine paper. In this class, we will start with
preparing a zinc plate and transferring a drawing,
then etching linework into metal. During these four sessions,
we will proof and rework our plates as well as begin
to add tone with the technique of aquatint
and learn the basics of editioning prints.
The quickest and safest method of saline sulfate etch
(copper sulfate and sodium chloride) will be used on 6” x 8” plates.
Simply bring an outline drawing of that size to class
and we will get started! No experience is necessary
and all skill levels are welcome. All materials will be provided
and are included in the fee.
The basic supplies are yours to keep, but if you wish to purchase
your own set of specialized tools to use at home,
simply contact us and we will provide you with the details.
Cost: $135 non-members / $108 members 20% rate
Limit 5 students
